sapphire bay had never made vienna feel more isolated than she felt now that it was the place she would call home. charlotte had hassled nate until the aging man agreed that he would pose as her charge, practically meaning that she was free to flout around she wished. no more daughter would be hanging over her head to cause gossip that blemished her liposuction altered face. alexander had caused a huge row with his wife when he called nate to see how his daughter had been daring over in the united states. his uncle had been truly surprised to hear from him, figuring that if charlotte had desired to rid her daughter from her hands then alexander's feelings would have been mutual too. after their shouting match it took alexander a fortnight to say a single word to charlotte. still he continued to drop calls to his daughter once day, prodding her gently but continually met with the same silence she that used when dealing with everyone. vienna had no opinion on her elongated stay in the states, seeing it as another place where she would be left to wallow in her shallow pool of somberness. uncle nate would not allow such a thing to happen to his precious great niece. first the process had started off with long bouts of silence when they would meet together. each night after dinner they would retreat in the parlor, uncle nate sat in his plush recliner and vienna sprawled carelessly out on the swan fainting couch. he would watch the time carefully, never giving her permission to retreat to her room until exactly a hour had passed. vienna compiled with each of his requests, silently padding her way through each command. nothing would ever rise a single complaint out of the restricted twenty year. uncle nate was determined to have her speak to him. three weeks passed before he even got a single word out of his great niece. he had made trail along on his errands, his way of seeing that she at least received fresh air. he was looking through pieces of furniture, deciding which couch should replace the one that vienna inhabited each night. vi snapped into clarity for a moment, holding out her pointer finger while murmuring "that one." the two simple words had caused uncle nate to blossom with a childish hope. to anyone else it would seem as if their relationship halted after vienna had spoken briefly to him. no one else had the keen eye to spot the gradual progression that vienna was making. when vi would eat a tiny bit more at dinner he would take notice. he was pleased when she began to linger longer in the parlor after he had already given her the okay to head back to her room. the awe one his face when vienna brought down her serious looking leather bound journal from her room and into the parlor could not ever be replicated. words had yet to be transferred between the two but steadily she was becoming more at ease. as it should be, considering she would be in his company for an infinite amount of time. rotherham was a town marked with tragedy and sorrow, vienna would never be able to return such a place again to call it home. sapphire bay would need to grow on the girl who was not even comfortable venturing out onto the streets by herself. by the time she reached the age of twenty one nate had a goal that she could at least fall back onto a thin padding of normalcy. venturing out somewhere into the town had been something her uncle had asked her to do. her initial was a blank stare, worrying nate because he did not want to be faced with rejection. a blatant no from vienna would mean that she had declined from the high he believed she was climbing towards. perspective was the only thing pushing her to accept his inquiry, instead of denying it like she had instantly thought to do. over the summers of her childhood a few weeks would be spent in sapphire bay, making her familiar enough of her surroundings. to keep her promise vienna waited until the middle of the afternoon had rolled by, leaving cali splashed with the sun vienna had been a stranger to back in england. odessa rubbed her tasteful sense of dress onto vienna in the time she had been by her side, converting her from the trashy style marley had pushed onto her. today she was feeling more like a commoner, the reason why she pulled on a plain attire, finished off with her beat up pair of chucks. odd looks were thrown to the girl so casually dressed in the classy eating getup, where she only ordered a salad and requested to have a seat outside. she hovered by the door of the kitchen to take her plate from the waitress before they had the chance to deliver it properly. the tiny british girl sauntered towards the door, sure to keep her gaze away from the others dining. when she reached the tables littering the entrance vi was met with someone who collided straight into her plate. only a sigh came from the exasperated girl as her plate crashed to the ground, cracking into tiny fractions with the salad spilling onto the sidewalk. "sorry," her cracked accent drawled out. open to anyone. 905 words. outfit.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: vienna day , aka the lovely face OUTFIT: bah, i'll get it later ONE LAST THING: ohheythere.
Today was his day. Johnny Giancola, the oldest Giancola, was having probably one of the best days he had had in the longest time. It had started when he had woken up and gone to the gym, just like any typical day. His four mile run was excellent, and he had spent the whole time catching up on his favorite football team. Of course, because it was a good day, his team had won and now he was currently in the lead in the fantasy football team pool he was doing with his buddies. If he won, well, he’d be a thousand dollars richer, and that was something Johnny just couldn’t pass up.
Secondly, his Christmas bonus from the company had been rather delightful. A two hundred dollar bonus had come with his paycheck when he had picked the check up from the office. His normal paycheck increased, therefore making him get into the Christmas spirit and actually have enough money to ship the presents he had bought for his family today. Those presents would make it to their doorstep the day before Christmas, allowing his mother and father and brothers to have something to open. Sure, Christmas was about giving, but he knew if his mother didn’t get these wine glasses she would call him up and complain how her favorite son didn’t love or need her anymore, something that was undoubtly true. In fact, Johnny found himself missing his family in New Jersey more than anything. Usually, Christmas was filled with eating food and getting slightly tipsy, but for the first time in his twenty-three years alive, he was spending Christmas with his depressed sister. Alone. And that my friend, was not how he wanted to be spending any day, much less Christmas.
Good thing number three was that his client had canceled. Now instead of choking back a protein shake like every other day, he was allowed to go and eat something actually solid. His boss, Martin, thought it would be good for the clients to see their trainers actually eat the food suggested, and more often than not, Johnny wanted to be poisoned to death instead of drinking those awful drinks. He quickly got home, showered and changed before taking a long walk to the restaurant. Usually, he ate a sandwich and then called a friend, but today, well, he was in the mood to celebrate the extra two hundred dollars. He made his way to the back of the line and waited. Although his day was excellent, he hated waiting and ended up playing Angry Birds on his phone for the majority of the wait.
Fourth good thing was that the check out girl, who was an attractive blond, gave her his number. Obviously he had someone to see that night, which made everything seem brighter in the world. But his day slowly began to crumble as he didn’t see the small petite girl walking towards him. His tray, and hers, clattered to the floor and he sighed, a face of embarrassment crossing over. ”I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault, I wasn’t seeing where I was going,” he apologized immediately. Johnny was about to bend down and help clean the mess up when someone came to clean it up instead. ”I’ll by you another one if you’d like.”

it was the guy who had been in line behind her, looming over her with his lanky body. he was the one who had the phone that chirped constantly at him as he spent the wait playing angry birds. vienna had been relying on the calming atmosphere to lend her some relaxation venturing out in the actual word with real people had robbed from her. a childish game being played eagerly by a young man did not give off much tranquility. so she crossed her arms, stubbornly remaining quietly while she let a fine frenzy song blare in her head. to counter his distraction vienna formed her own in hops of cancelling out the horribly annoying game that seemed to have the stranger completely absorbed. vienna failed to understand how a game of launching various birds at ugly looking pigs served as any form of entertainment. the clean shirt she had dressed her in was now dabbed with the italian dressing vienna had requested cover her salad. dressing was supposed to stay on the salad, not a petite british girl who had only wanted to eat the salad. with the shattered plate and scattered pieces of lettuce she saw that the stranger had also lost his meal in the collision. her tiny hands wiped down the front of her shirt, doing their best to try and rid of the salad dressing. in her distressed state she honestly had no desire to tilt her head back to look at the stranger. too muddled, she couldn't recall if he had apologized or not. out of habit she had murmured an apology, though it hadn't necessarily been her fault. all she had wanted was to quietly dine with no worries setting down on her sunken shoulders. damn you, angry birds man. he had apologized, vienna recalled now. and also offered to buy her a new dinner, considering now her salad was being swept up by an agitated waiter. vienna stepped away from the kneeling man, involuntarily bringing herself closer to angry bird man. finally she craned her neck back, finding that it was challenging to have her chocolate brown eyes meet the strangers. did every guy have to be so damn tall? "everyone seems to want to crash into the little ones," her posh accent drawled out to him levelly. annoyance had been kept out of her tone but she was looking at him with a pointed stare. truly, she did not appreciate being covered in dressing meant for her food. absently her converse clad foot began to tap on the ground. did she take up this guy's offer or not? it was a stretched but her lips curled back to offer him a ghost of a smile. she would make it nowhere in sapphire bay by trying to snap at everyone in defense. alexander would have applauded vienna had he been nestled in her mind, watching over everything she said closely. peering at the stranger closely vienna discovered that he was a handsome looking man. that made the conversation more easier, with her recollections of how easily she used to flirt resurfacing. "it's the least you could do, since you trampled right over me. i'm tiny, but i mean bloody hell." she sounded truthfully playful, her accent deeply sinking into her words. her tiny frame fell beside the stranger, waiting for him to lead them back through the restaurant. for j squared. <3 566 words. outfit.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: vienna day , aka the lovely face OUTFIT: bah, i'll get it later ONE LAST THING: ohheythere.
Ketchup stained his shirt but it was the last thing on his mind. Honestly, as his eyes took in the petite short girl in front of him, Johnny hoped that he hadn’t trampled over the pour girl. He stood at an average six foot three, while she had to be no taller than five foot three. She was cute, he had to admit, but looked a little sad. Granted, that could be because he had just walked into her, but he wanted her to smile. It was a beautiful warm day and the last thing Johnny believed should happen was for people to frown and walk around. New Jersey had a foot of snow, while Sapphire Bay was filled with green grass and palm trees. The idea of palm trees perplexed Johnny; how could coconuts grow from those things? But he shook his shaggy head and gave the girl beneath him a sheepish smile.
His mother hadn’t raised no fool, he thought as he offered to buy her another lunch. But she didn’t respond at first, only mumbled something under her breath. His ears perked up at the sound of an accent, an accent he had heard almost a year ago. British accents were oddly attractive, and as he looked down on the petite posh girl, Johnny realizes she was rather cute. But, having learned from mistakes in the past, he would not get caught up in looks. He was a twenty-three year old man and he had hit on a seventeen year old the other night in a club. People here looked like they were twenty five, when they were really ten. It was gross and also made it impossible for him to realize what age everyone was.
A smile graced his lips as he heard her louder response. A small smile graced her lips and she looked even prettier, not tired or self-conscious as before. ”Sorry ‘bout that. I was too focused on shoving food down my throat as quickly as possible,” he joked, beginning to walk back to the end of the line. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder as though they had been friends for their whole lives. And besides, she was the perfect arm rest; the perfect size and she was pretty. ”Where are you from in England? I was in London last year for school.” He had enjoyed his time in London. It was weird for him to think that maybe he had run into her when he was in London and now he was once again running into her. Although, Johnny was certain he would have remembered running into her.
”What type of salad was that? Caesar or something else?” Johnny asked, mentally preparing himself for when the waitress asked for his order again. It would be a little pricier than before, but that was alright; he wouldn’t be eating alone like every other day. ”I have flecks of croutons on my shirt so I know it was something with those square pieces of bread” a deep chuckle escaped his lips as he removed his arm from around her shoulders and smiled down on her. ”Oh man, I forgot my manners. I’m Johnny Giancola. You are?”

this guy was not someone who she had seen around before. her memory rarely failed her, even if she had only been in sapphire bay for a few summers over the years. faces became ingrained in her mind if they were striking enough to stand out against the rest that were moshed into her thoughts. the face of the stranger who had collided with her was not one she would easily forget, he had a familiar feel to his face but vienna knew that she had never before had the graces to run into him. a warmth settled into his features that reached out to her cold core causing a funny feeling that almost felt like something be awakened. none of it really made sense but lately nothing in her life could be strung together to reach any level of clarity. he proved to be amiable enough, so she could shake off the weird feelings to proceed through with the conversation that seemed to have begun. the smile set on his lips seemed to give off a true spark of friendless that left vienna feeling unsettled. everything about this guy hinted that he wanted to immediately become friends with her. she possibly could have been jumping to quickly to assumptions, being pulled out of reality for such a long time had maybe toyed with her thoughts. his kindness easily may have been a common courtesy he used on everyone, only heightened because it was his fault that vienna now reeked of italian dressing. whatever it was vienna immediately assured herself that she was peeking too deeply into the scare signs that had been laid out before her. the guy had enough manners to offer vi another salad while other men would have scowled at her, used some profane word, and stalked off with a growling stomach. just enjoy the company, vi. it's someone other than your uncle, she prompted herself, hesitantly returning the smile. he had humor over the whole situation, which made it easier for vi to potentially grow comfortable around him. if he had been thrown into a rage over spilled food her feet would have already been taking her to the door. vienna gave a gentle shrug of her tiny shoulders, the only responses that she could think of on the spot. all social skills once hers seemed to have abandoned her when she had turned her face away from the world. "i was absorbed in staring at my salad, imagining what it would taste like. so i think it is just as much my fault as it is yours, giant," she pleasantly said to him, even managing to sound playful with the endearing term she had thoughtlessly tacked on at the end. She looked at him in confusion; how did he know that she was English? Oh wait, she was no longer in Rotherham. "I'm from Rotherham," she bluntly answered, swerving away from his personal connection to her home country. England still held too many fresh memories of Odessa. The way they were walking, with this stranger's arms wrapped tightly around her shoulders made it look as if they were closely bonded. Vienna didn't mind, it was sort of comforting how familiar he was acting towards her. She even dared to slightly into his touch, subconsciously making the decision. When he pulled away Vienna quickly straightened before letting herself drop into a chair of one of the open tables. It was seated towards the corner of the room, unfortunately in the more crowded area. Ignoring the bursts of life around them Vienna focused intently on the stranger. "Actually it is perigourdine. A french salad with duck," Vienna said to him, cringing at how snobby her choice of food sounded. It was the way she had been raised and high class habits were hard to shake. She gave him a soft nod, smiling more noticeably at the plainness of his name It was adorable. "Vienna, Vienna Day."for j squared. <3 658 words. outfit.look at that, i got carried away.

The hesitant smile allowed him to realize that she was most likely extremely new to the city. He too was new and he could not explain how lonely and sad it was to be the only person you truly knew. It was a hard world to survive in without a friend, and since Johnny also needed a friend, he immediately adopted this petite girl to become his new best friend. She may not like that, but that didn’t matter; he needed a friend and if he needed to force her to be his friend, well, she would deal with that. Johnny wasn’t a very forceful person, but he would be in this scenario. She seemed as though she could be nice if she warmed up to the correct person, and he would make sure he would become that person, and, well, she seemed nice in general. But that, of course, could be him looking into the best of people.
People often told him that that was a horrible quality. He chose to believe that people had a good quality hidden deep beneath the ugly surface. Lies and whatnot were, in his opinion, to protect people and themselves against the cruel world around them. Johnny, of course, never lied and always tried telling the truth when directed towards him. Of course, there were those exceptions when he ‘forgot’ to add information to the question being asked and whatnot, but he pretended those scenarios did not exist. He wanted to be everyone’s best friend, everyone’s drinking buddy and all that nonsense that the movies portrayed all the time.
”Ah, so I’m a giant? I wouldn’t be a giant if you weren’t so short, shrimpy,” he teased, nudging her as they continued their short journey towards the line. As she mentioned that she was from Rotherham, he could hear the tenseness in her voice. Obviously she had a history that was in no need to be discussed and whatnot, and while he wanted to be her friend, well, he wasn’t going to force anything upon her. Everyone had a history, and he had secrets he hoped would never come out. ”Anyways, I was so looking forward to eating my cheeseburger that is now studying the floor of this restaurant.” he teased, his eyes scanning the list that was above the cash register. Maybe he no longer wanted a cheeseburger…hmm…
A snobby salad, but he assumed that she was from a higher class. Well, Johnny had assumed that when he saw that her purse was probably worth more than a month’s paycheck. That’s alright; like he knew, there was probably a secret as to why she had relocated from England to Sapphire Bay, the middle of nowhere where rich people really didn’t live. But he bit his curiosity and gave her a smile. ”Not much of a salad person. I enjoy my meat course” he chuckled, before nodding. ”Pretty name. Kind of like Bond, James Bond,” he teased, hoping he didn’t come across as an asshole. ”How long have you been here? I’ve only been her a few weeks, and you, Vienna, are declared as my new best friend” Johnny chuckled once again and reached the counter. ”What do you want to eat, Vie?”

something was entirely different about this johnny that she had just literally rammed into as a first meeting. when she looked towards him there was some sort of warmth centered in his stare that she could match and apparent reason with. she had spilled his meal all over the ground and now she was tagging along with him so that he could cover for his meal and the addition of her salad as well. he was not winning anything out of this entire mess expect for the company of a snobbish british girl who could be labeled as a selective mute. maybe he was the sort of guy would could find something worth smiling over in the worst of every situation. had vienna been in his spot then she would have scowled at her petite self, silently crushed her for being so foolish, and then swaggered away so she could make herself handsome once again. just a whole role reversal thing that never would have happened. hey, she was free to imagine. however this johnny character was completely different from herself, she could clearly make that out. his attitude towards her hinted that he could have known her for ages, not for the few minutes that had begun with the flying food fiasco. in some ways it was disconcerting, how he teased her in a fashion that should have been reserved for familiar faces, not complete strangers. the other part of vienna was smacking her upside the head for grasping at silly reasons to try and push this guy away when he was only showing her utter hospitality and complete kindness. a friend was exactly the sort of thing she needed to embrace in this place where she could not a find a single niche to submerge herself into wholly. old vienna would have taken her hand and gently smacked him on his side for a degrading comment, which is exactly what she did, with a tiny smile too. "five feet one inch is actually the perfect height, i'm what i think you americans call fun size," vienna countered, laughter sparking in her eyes. johnny had shifted something in her mood, something that would have stayed constant had she been engaged in conversation with anyone else. her worries were forcefully slipping away, thanks to the constant chatter going on in her head. uncle alexander would have started fretting over vienna if she told him half of the thoughts that collected in her mind. she had to shrug these things out of her mind, she wasn't alone, there was company that she had to tend to now. turning her gaze up at him vienna gave a soft shrug of her shoulders as an answer. "maybe it is better that your cheeseburger had a date with the ground, those things are only fattening." vienna was deterred by anything that could possibly affect her weight, it was a habit that marley instilled upon her and now she could not shake it. her eyebrows raised to johnny and she couldn't keep herself from letting out a short burst of laughter his way. "duck is meat, just like beef and pork are. salads can be manly, you sexist thing," her posh accent joked. her eyes turned back up onto the menu so she could decide if she was craving anything else. all of this comedy he was creating at the very moment was sort of overwhelming to vienna. color had been absent from her life for a long time. she swatted at him gently again, flushed by a simple comment of her name. "i share a named with canned sausages, nothing glamorous at all." she continued to focus on the menu, pitifully hoping that he would not see the color change of her face. "i landed here almost two months ago, i believe. i'm a hermit, not someone suited to be a best friend," she said bluntly to him. vienna looked back towards the menu, pursing her lips before she said in a practiced french accent, 'je voudrais pot au feu." she hovered closely to johnny but did not say anything else. some discomfort had settled over her with the realization that people were directing their stares towards them. couldn't they go and gawk at something else? for j squared. <3 712 words. outfit.i enjoy these two.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: vienna day , aka the lovely face OUTFIT: bah, i'll get it later ONE LAST THING: ohheythere.
Vienna Day changed his life, whether she realized her influence or not. She was sarcastic but also had the idea that she was nothing. He could tell just from her first words that had escaped her mouth. Obviously she wasn’t used to talking to people, and Johnny really wanted to understand why. There was a history, something horrid but understandingly wrong that had made her become the person she was. And Johnny, being the teddy bear, wanted to hug and hold her through her difficulties. He wanted to be the big brother she had never wanted but had and would tell her everything would be alright, because Johnny could tell that that was what she wanted to hear. He, at one point, wanted to hear that escape from his parent’s lips during a hard time in his life. But no one had said everything would be alright and it had taken him forever to realize that everything happened or a reason and that everything would eventually be alright. Johnny would become her best friend, the one perhaps she hadn’t wanted but had stumbled across at the best time.
As his arm wrapped tightly around her shoulder, he found himself content with what was going on. She needed company and he needed company, something he had never wanted to admit before. While his day had gotten perfect before, considering he had a phone number in one pocket and two hundred dollars in the other, something about meeting someone that he could help made everything better. People had told him that he was happy and a go lucky guy, but that had been a trait he taught himself. Once upon a time, Johnny Giancola had been a bitter boy who had thought the world was full of people that would hurt him and everyone he loved. And then a beautiful girl had come along and taught him that everything was alright and that he was perfect and just needed a new perspective. While this girl had eventually broken his heart, reserving his true heart and love for those selective few, it had taught him to be truly happy and funny and friendly to those he had come across. There was no reason for him to be bitter about anything. ”Fun size? So I can fit you in a happy meal?” he teased, referring to the delectable treat that he had enjoyed when he was younger and when his parents didn’t feel like cooking for four kids.
A laugh escaped his mouth, not believing that she had said the same thing he was thinking. Johnny had decided that the cheeseburger would be too much of something he didn’t need and eventually would not want. Now, of course, he wanted some noodles…or perhaps the same thing she was having. That way, when he ate the salad or whatever it was, he could say how bad of a taste she had and how she needed to have a cheeseburger every once in a while. ”I was thinking the same thing. Maybe I should have that fancy salad you want to order, or perhaps something gross, like octopus.” he teased, wondering if she would dare him to eat that. Johnny wasn’t a fan of trying new things, but he could never refuse a dare. ”Sexist? Seriously? I love women and everything they consume as long as it isn’t something I’ve never heard of. Salad is good…before the main course in my opinion.” Johnny added, before running his fingers through his gold locks.
”Johnny is one of the most common names in the history of the world. At least you have something unusually. Everyone knows a Johnny.” He blinked a few times, trying to figure out what he wanted to eat. Ah, she didn’t want a best friend? Well, that sucked, because he was going to be the best friend she had ever had. ”Luckily for you, I’m in need of a best friend and it seems as though your application has been accepted into the hall of friendship!” he added, smiling brightly at her. ”Any idea what I should order?”

this kid was already too much. he wasn't even a kid, vienna reckoned. from the way that he carried himself she could observe he was well over the age of eighteen, the age that stood as the threshold to adulthood and and all of the dim glories that it held. he carried himself in a way that hinted he had actual things that would cause him to grow a pride. at the age of twenty vi was still bobbing around in the shades of grey, unsure of where she was headed with the rest of her life that was quickly approaching. twenty four was the ultimate age that she settled on, maybe a year younger or a few older. such thoughts confirmed that vi had lost her complete grasp on people. johnny would be the one to ensure she became in touch with the life of sapphire bay, he seemed sure of it. vienna didn't know how she felt about that, but she knew that his presence was surely comforting. not once did she try to shrug his arm off of her, which was snaked securely around her shoulders. it was like to the rest of the world johnny was trying to give off the message that he had just wrangled her in as a fine catch. it was only another one of vienna's outrageous thoughts created because she was finely out of tune with the rest of reality. a tiny piece of her was actually smug over the way he dawned his arm proudly around her. she could not help but lean in closer to him, enjoying his touch enough to let her thin arm loop around his back and hold onto his middle. infectious, that was the way vienna was going to describe this johnny character from now on. his good mood was clouding over the bitterness she eternally carried. her head tilted back to look up at him, cute smile quirking on her lips. "you wouldn't find me in a mc donalds ever, so m'afraid not, love," she trilled out to him. he was a guy who vi imagined had a daily routine that he did not often break. ordering something foreign was something that she would mark too far out of his comfort zone. duck was a food that vi didn't think twice about because she ate it so often. a cheeseburger however was not as food that often sat in her stomach. even their food choice was showing how different of realms that the two came from. her smile was playful when she looked to him, her fingers pressing into his side to lightly poke him. "i think you would be safe with your daily food choices, not something gross." she used his choice of words, scrunching her nose at how narrow minded he seemed. her eyes scanned the menu again, even though she had already ordered. a light shrug of her shoulders came again as a reply to johnny. "this time i ordered a duck and vegetable stew, something i think you would call hearty." she was teasing him now and highly enjoying it. he was average and she was drawn to that, even if was subconscious and she had yet to understand such. vienna shook her head and tugged her hand away from his back. "your name is authentic and i think it carries meaning. you can eat my name." she looked to him with toothy grin, trying to keep her tone light. there johnny was again, causing the smile that lit up her entire face. "we'll see how long you last as my best friend. maybe uncle alexander will scare you off," she sighed, giving out the first clue to her current life in sapphire bay. she looked back to the menu for the millionth time and then said, "johnny would like a chef's salad." she spoke stiffly but formally and stepped away from johnny, feeling that she was lapsing back into her usual wariness of the entire world. when their order was filled she took her own bowl and directed herself to a seat in the corner of the room, letting johnny deal with the paying business to come and join her later. for j squared. <3 701 words. outfit.i enjoy these two.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: vienna day , aka the lovely face OUTFIT: bah, i'll get it later ONE LAST THING: ohheythere.
Part of him wondered if she was way younger than him. Like, to the point where he could be accused of something if this went anywhere. Not that he thought it would. Not that he would mind, either. Vienna was beautiful and he could see that she was having a hard time getting used to being around Sapphire Bay, just like himself. It was hard, moving somewhere where he didn’t know anyone other than his sister and his best friend. Or, well, ex best friend. Mady was not on his nice list right now, and while Johnny very rarely held grudges, he knew that she had to understand why he was mad. Hell, if she didn’t, then there was a bigger issue at hand then what Ali was going through. He blinked a couple of times, pushing the thoughts away. There was no need to tap into his emotions; he was a manly man and needed to pretend as though everything was alright, even when it wasn’t. Johnny had never been good and controlling when tapping into his emotions; a soccer match would be nice to participate in later that night to get his frustrations out.
McDonalds was delicious and Johnny had no need to find out what made their food good. Sure, rumors were that the meat wasn’t really meat, but he didn’t question that. ”Is it sad that I eat those cheeseburgers like it’s my job?” he asked, running his fingers through his silky hair. His hand that was draped across her shoulder played with the brown hair that was pooling onto his arm, and his fingers laced with the silk. It was so shiny and soft and pretty and, well, smooth. He liked nice hair. That implied that she actually cared about her looks, and while he was sure she was from money, not everyone cared what everyone thought. Johnny blinked. He was analyzing her personality based on her hair. There was something wrong with that. Usually, he just accepted someone and didn’t analyze them, but Vienna was a puzzle; he just couldn’t figure her out fast enough.
A chuckle escaped his pink lips and he grinned at her. Yes, maybe octopus and squid were a little too far-fetched for his taste, but at least she knew that already. He was used to his usual routine and was not in favor of switch it up, but if she was willing to help, well, that was fine and dandy with him. Her fingers poked him and grazed by his ribs and he looked at her. ”Hearty? So, like, it makes my heart stronger? You know what they say about heart attacks; your heart bursts from loving too much!” he said cheesy, but accepted the fact that he would be eating healthy for once. Usually he ate whatever came his way and seemed and looked normal, but if she was having stew and was going to order it for him, well, whatever. He would accept that and eat the cheeseburger from McDonalds later that night when he was alone. Or he could make a cheeseburger, whichever seemed easier at the time.
”I bet your name tastes delicious” he muttered, giving her a cheeky grin. ”my name probably tastes like octopus or something yucky like that” so he was exaggerating, no big deal. A beautiful smile bloomed across her face and Johnny mentally gave himself a pat on the back for making her smile. It was something, he thought, she hadn’t done in a while and was getting used to doing. Obviously he was helping her more than he was helping himself. ”As long as Uncle Alexander doesn’t have guns that could shoot my brains out, we’ll be all good. We can have a forbidden friendship! Those always work in the movies!” Ok, so usually they didn’t work, but he could just pretend. He opened his mouth to protest about the salad, but it seemed as though the salad had appeared before he could say anything. It was green. He didn’t like green food. Unless it was sushi. Mhmmm sushi. But he swiped his card and made his way over to the table, where the pretty brunette was sitting. ”It’s green. And I’m not a huge fan of green things. Olives and tomatoes? Sure. Green icky stuff? No.”

he was getting more of a grip on her then anyone else would have been able to observe from a mere first meeting. vibes coming from johnny hinted to vienna that he understood the very core of her issues without having any knowledge of her actual problems. loneliness and unwillingness to move forward, johnny had been able to grasp at that much. the gritty details didn't need to be made known for him to see that she needed company and coaxing. she was unsure of how to twist all of this. that was exactly the main feeling johnny had created: lack of assurance. vienna had not the slightest clue how to perceive him, so to compensate of her clueless stance she was wholly diving into the conversation. she was pushing herself further than usually would have fallen into her comfort zone. a rarity was presented before johnny, not that he even knew such a thing. blissful ignorance was a good thing for him to carry, at least when dealing with the little brit he seemed decided on toting around from now on. awkward may have been a descriptor for how easily johnny had clicked with the tiny foreigner, but because of the way he nearly pushed his ease onto her it felt like she could believe in such comfort. her mind had processed his hand on her shoulder, fiddling with her hair, but had not fully registered how intimate of an action it could actually be perceived as to anyone else glancing towards them. straying eyes looking their way actually were too many, too many enough to make vienna want to turtle up as a way to reflect their eyes away. if she concentrated enough on johnny she zoned everything out, intensely gazing at the handsome etches of his face and soaking in the soothing lilt of his voice. mesmerizing still when he was speaking of the horrible processed food of mc donalds. she scrunched her nose again, trying to withhold her disgust at the thought of their mutated meat. "you should let me cook for you sometime." vienna softly suggested, mindlessly speaking. she was giving an honest proposition, just without any thought that it would require allowing him entrance to her house. well, uncle alexander's house. mother mary, he was so cheesy that she could practically feel the cheesiness oozing from his pores. it was a nice change of pace from the guys she had regularly dealt with in the past. there never had been much variety, just the sort who believed they were god sent, able to woo any crowd and exempt themselves from the rules of society. they had never latched onto vi's personality, only been striving after her body. not a single one of those guys could be compared to the genuine man who was currently taunting vi like they were sixteen year olds . her head tilted slightly to the side, looking at him with a mixed look of amusement and complete disbelief. "hearty as in something filling and delicious, but that works as well," she amended, matching his smile with a weak one of her own. she was awed by his cheesiness, thinking that the things he said should have belonged on a sitcom. "m'afraid i won't be suffering from any such heart attacks then," she lightly tried to joke, but bitterness had unknowingly seeped into her tone. oops, she was feeling again, for some reason the cheeky smile johnny gave her to caused a bright path of flush to light up on her cheeks and nose. hurriedly she ducked her head, running her fingers through her hair to hopefully take his attention away from her. vienna desperately shook her head, biting at her lip in total embarrassment. "the sausages are a let down. but octopus tastes good, which further shows that your name is a good one," vi mumbled back as an argument, rubbing at her face futilely to try and dispel the blush. she grabbed her plate and rushed to the table, plopping down and stabbing absently at the pieces of duck dominating the bowl. johnny came over, spewing out complete foolishness which lightened her mood immediately. after chewing debonairly on the duck she speared she replied by saying, "the movies are never like reality. so don't be delusional," she scolded lightly, forking a piece of celery and nibbling on it, much like a rabbit would. for a moment vi was quiet, looking at him and then frowning when he complain about the salad. "i'll take the salad and you can have my meal," she offered as a remedy, pushing out her pot au feu for johnny to take. for j squared. <3 775 words. outfit.the blush was coming out.

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: vienna day , aka the lovely face OUTFIT: bah, i'll get it later ONE LAST THING: ohheythere.
Her soft voice lulled him out of the daze he seemed to be in. It wasn’t his fault, by any means. His stomach was putting up a fight for not being fed in quite some time and Johnny hoped that no one could hear the noise coming within. Honestly, people hearing his stomach growling made him so self-conscious, he couldn’t help but want to shove as much food into his mouth as possible at a given time. A home cooked meal? He bit back the words that he wanted to say. He cooked all the time; his family was Italian and had taught him to cook at a young age. But he said nothing. Instead, his heart was panged with homesickness and he wished he was home in Jersey. Sure, his sister needed him, but he missed being home with his brother and mother and father and in a place that actually did not mind his company. Most of the places in Sapphire Bay looked down on anyone that didn’t have a thousand dollar outfit and it bothered him. ”Sure. I’ll bring desert. My ma taught me how to make some mean cannoli’s” Johnny mentioned, shuffling awkwardly. He hated bragging about his cooking skills. It was very un-Johnny.
Smiling at her, he knew he was cheesy. That was alright. He had learned that cheesiness had never been a bad thing and it often came in handy when dealing with girls. Girls, for some reason, liked hearing cheesy romantic things that were only really used in love stories and romantic comedies, neither of which Johnny was familiar with. Maybe. Fine, he had seen The Notebook. It was a damn good movie and he’d be damned if anyone told him otherwise. Ryan Gosling was amazing. And sure, Crazy Stupid Love wasn’t too shabby, it was actually humorous. And yes, he had seen those movies willingly and perhaps not in the presence of a girl. It wasn’t something he would walk around and broadcast to the world, but whatever. ”Well, I wasn’t planning on having a heart attack anytime soon, and maybe the soup could help” he shrugged. The bitterness oozed from her voice and he gave her a bright obnoxious smile. ”Love. It’s a simple four letter word that doesn’t have to refer to a significant other. There has to be one person in your life you would always love. But we don’t have to get into that” his voice trailed off at the end, realizing he was treading in unknown waters.
It wasn’t that knowing her past would hurt him; it was that he could tell she really didn’t want him to know her past. And that was alright. There were some things that weren’t meant to be told to strangers, and Vienna held some of those secrets close. Perhaps a relative died recently, or adoption, or something similar to those. It wasn’t in his place to pry unless she was willing to offer it up. He understood and respected that. And Johnny knew that most people didn’t; most people wanted to know everyone’s life story and he didn’t. It was alright if some things were left in the dark. Friendship was built on trust and understanding and if he forced an issue, like he had in the past with many others, the friendship would never succeed. Or relationship. Honestly, he had no idea what he was doing right now with Vienna. Maybe she didn’t want to be with someone, or maybe she did. He would welcome anything.
His nose scrunched up. ”Never had octopus. Never wanted to. Those tentacles always scared me when I was little” he mentioned. Aquariums were not his favorite place. He loved fishing and everything, but he hated knowing about the creatures that were beneath his feet all the time. It freaked him out and he wished he could just forget about all that nonsense. Movies were never like reality. That was a good quote. Johnny mentally wrote it down and decided that that would be his twitter status. Yes, he decided, it would be. And everyone would think he was intelligent and smart and creative without knowing he stole the quote from a friendly British girl. Protectively, Johnny held his salad tightly. ”You picked it out for me, therefore I shall eat it and enjoy it and mentally thank you for not picking out octopus instead.” he took a bite and swallowed, preparing himself for the unusual taste and texture that followed. ”Tell me what you’re thinking right now. I think you have a thinking face on.”

cooking was the one "average" task that vienna could complete without any hesitations or complaints. in the kitchen she felt at home, like she knew that she would for the rest of her life. charlotte had always snapped at her for shoddy meals but her father had been quick to make up for his wife's fallacies, spewing out the truth with great flourish. the pout au feu that had an expensive price slapped on it could be made back in uncle nate's kitchen, which she hadn't entered since making her grand debut at the town of sapphire bay. a mental note was made to explore the kitchen after her outing with johnny was through. "my uncle's home is fully equipped with a whole kitchen staff. next friday we can see who can whip up the better desert: the professionals or the italian boy." she smirked, ignorant to the fact that she had unknowingly set a day for this date to happen. friends, that american sitcom her father enjoyed watching when charlotte was out on one of her shopping sprees, was the show she would have enjoying seeing johnny in. chandler was the character she believed that he could take over, easily filling in the spot where he would be missed. then she would want to be monica, just slightly less neurotic. if she told him her random thought then would he give her a weird stare and be slightly turned off? for fear of such a reaction she kept her mouth shut, only looking at him with dark eyes that lightened considerably as he continued to speak. "you never know when a heart attack could happen, even if you are trying to prevent it," vienna spoke deeply, words holding more meaning than just their literal value. her fingers wrung around her wrist anxiously, feeling uncomfortable with where the conversation was heading. "i love my da," she hurriedly answered, rushing out of the deep waters she did not want to drown in. bonds of trust were beginning to form already, no matter how thin and delicate they were at the beginning of the process. vienna could see that was a web was woven already, despite the fact she had known johnny for a hour tops. such relationships with vienna were rare after the death of odessa, something she had shut out after having her heart torn out with the abrupt leave of her best mate. johnny sort of presented himself as the golden retriever that vienna had never had as a companion. but she heard that they were the only dog you should ever have, loyal beyond reason and forever serving their master. maybe that was the wrong comparison. completely the wrong comparison, she only wanted to say she felt like she could fully pour her secrets into his system. a priest, maybe that was what she could call him. absently, she straightened out her legs, converse clad feet knocking gently into those of pastor johnny. he didn't have an open mind, which very well should have been a big fat red x in her book. but that didn't happen, instead vi decided that she was going to accept johnny the way he was. that tiny decision was something huge, at least for vienna. she softly laughed at him, shaking her head in disbelief. "one day i will slip octopus into something you're about to eat," she said, eyebrows waggling mischievously at him. he denied her food and she pulled her bowl back towards herself, stabbing at a mushy carrot and nibbling at it. vienna had her foot resting on johnny's comfortable now and unwilling to move. "you'll be a rabbit for lunch today then. a nice change," she commented softly. her eyebrows knitted and she paused before speaking again. he was going to get the truth, her stream of consciousness unedited. "i was just thinking about the curve of your jaw, it makes you even more handsome..." she mumbled into her carrot, eyes falling to study a plump piece of duck partially submerged in her pot au feu. for j squared. <3 676 words. outfit.look why johnny does to her!

theres a thunder in our hearts baby so much hate for the ones we love TAG: vienna day , aka the lovely face OUTFIT: bah, i'll get it later ONE LAST THING: ohheythere.
A smile teased his lips. Was she making a date or just asking him to join her for another social gathering? Either of which was fine with him, although the idea of going on an actual date scared him a little. It had been so long since he had let a girl into his heart. Mady had been the final straw and he knew that this girl would have to be amazing. Mady had just killed him with all the lies she had covered up with her pretty face and web of lies. That was the one thing he hated most; being lied to. Seriously, it bugged the shit out of him. He could not stand the thought of being lied to all the damn time. It made him seem weak and stupid and everything else he hated. ”I’m sure I can; I make food with love and not expensive ingredients” Johnny teased, his thoughts miles away.
He close his eyes before his palms rubbed over them. Oh god, the sleep was catching up with him. Everything was. He had spent so much of his time running away from everything that he hadn’t expected everything to catch up all at once. Seriously, he had thought that the faster he ran, the further away things would become. Johnny thought that he could run away from the pain Mady and Vivienne had caused, the anger towards Noah and the misery of being so far away from home, but he was wrong. Sitting at this little café with a girl he had never met before, he realized he had paused just a moment too soon. He rubbed his eyes harshly, trying to push the emotion towards the back of his mind. This was not the time to break down, he needed to be a go-lucky guy that was perfect and handsome and funny and charming. Not some weak man who cried over a heartbreak and the aggravation and loneliness that followed. That only happened in romantic comedies. His life was not one. His life was one of those boring movies that got nominated for an Oscar but got tossed aside by the movie starring Natalie Portman or George Clooney.
Trust. That was his issue. He couldn’t trust anyone like himself, like that stupid Taylor Swift song his sister had made him listen to. Sure, the girl was ok as singing, but her lyrics meant something. Johnny had pretty much broken down in the car and sobbed, much to the concern of his sister. Johnny smiled all the time and pretends as though he was tough, but inside, he was a kitten wanting to meow its way to death. But no, he was the strong one. He had always been the strong one. A pair of legs knocked gently into his long ones and he did not move his, too caught up in his own thoughts. His life was a joke. Nothing ever went the way he wanted it to go.
”Deal. As long as I don’t know what it is until I eat it, we’ll be all good” he teased, looking down at the leafy food in front of him. All these thoughts parading around in his mind suddenly made him not hungry and he pushed the food away, wanting some alcohol instead. His cheeks suddenly had a pinkish tint to them. Yes, he knew he was attractive, but not many girls answered his questions with honesty. Usually the answers were filled with a language he couldn’t understand and usually just nodded and went along with it. It was at this time that he realized that Vienna Day was a very different girl, like a puzzle. Or a turtle. He liked turtles. ”Why, thank you Miss Day. I was thinking that you have very pretty eyes. And that I cannot wait to eat dinner with you next Friday night when you can try my awesome food.”

Her head had to be screwed on loose, those crucial pieces uselessly rolling around in her head. It was the only reason that could explain why she had openly hinted at what she guessed was a date. Vienna with Odessa would have never thought twice about a silly thing, asking guys out left and right. Hell, she would have entertained a guy directly after establishing a time and date with another guy who was lingering close by. In the conversation so far she had only insinuated a date and now she was practically smacking herself up in her mind. Her uncle would see it as a huge step, since she had invited him directly into his home. Hopefully he wouldn’t mind, because she hadn’t thought to check for his permission. “The main course is always the most anticipated meal. I will be sure to create something with a lasting taste,” she said, tone forcibly light. Next Friday was now looming in her mind. There were no clues for Vienna to pick up on when Johnny suddenly became quiet. All she could make out was for a few dragged out minutes his perky exterior seemed to sink. Something was dragging down his persona, very much like how mentions of Vi’s past and constant questioning would pull at her mask until it slipped off and shattered, replaced with irritation and misery. Brooding was a serious something, exactly the reason why she kept quiet to allow himself to his thoughts. He could wallow and relate back to his despair, because Vienna knew the somber look on his face was not brought on by the welcome of bright thoughts and the happy sort of anxiety. Only the smallest liver of Vienna wanted to gently poke at Johnny, softly inquire as to why everything seemed to suddenly fall to pieces. Privacy set in and she just glanced back to her soup, which was beginning to cool. With the quiet dominating she resigned to her own thoughts, figuring it would be some time before Johnny grew eager again. If he even did at all. Odessa was lingering at the very edge of her thoughts. Full thoughts on her presence couldn’t be formed but Vienna had an ominous feeling, suddenly shuddering and clanging her fork to the floor with no real explanation. “Sorry, I guess I just had a muscle twitch,” she mumbled out, feeling utterly abashed. She swept over, tiny form balancing precariously in the chair to retrieve her fallen utensil. Her nose scrunched and with a glance down at the floor she realized the fork was now probably contaminated. She didn’t want to discredit the restaurant but she didn’t have the slightest clue on their sanitary precautions. Brimming over in her own thoughts had luckily been evaded, with the fork incident and Johnny springing back into conversation almost immediately. She was thankful for his chatter. Pot au feu was pushed away, clearly showing that Vienna was through with her meal. A tiny smile played on her lips and her converse clad feet pressed gently against his legs, this time on purpose. “I’ll wait until later and casually slip the name of whatever you ate into the conversation. Your reaction could very well be photograph worry.” She mused, rolling her eyes subtly at his silliness. Really, he was more amusing than she let on. Blush on his face was satisfying, giving her more of a feeling of content then she was sure was allowed. The compliment he shot back at her caused her own face to burst out with patches of red on her cheeks. “Thank you, sir,” she genuinely said, still managing to slip a hint of a tease into her thanks. For a moment she only blinked at him, face breaking out into a foolish grin abruptly. “Friday at eight. I will be highly disappointed if you find some reason to wiggle out of this date.” Oops. Did she really just say that word? for j squared. <3 some amount of words. outfit.d'aww!
