[cs=2] likes: gambling, acting, singing, playing bass guitar, new york's theatre scene, movies (he'd love to act in one some day), talking to his sister, his mother, driving/racing, hiking dislikes: his brother connor's cockiness, everything else about connor, drama, stress, closing night, getting nervous, his father, his uncle kipper, being cooped up, being alone, being wrong, his family's 'crime life' personality: lennox is quiet for the most part, but it's not because he's shy. you can't be shy in the acting business. he's outgoing, but he's not the type to speak first. he just doesn't expect everyone to want to talk to him. he's very humble that way. although he's an actor, he doesn't consider himself to be much of a people person, but he's able to put on a smiling face when he's surrounded by a crowd of people. despite his inherited bad habits from his father such as anger, he has learned to control himself in a way his older brother connor has not. in a way, emotionally, lennox is much more of the coolheaded son that kyson wanted to take over the mob after he steps down, but he never cared to follow in his father's footsteps. although he has major differences from his siblings, he still gets along with them, and he is loyal to them to the end. connor is the only sibling he really butts heads with because they look at the world through different scopes. lennox believes the world is not set in stone and it is his to mold to get his dreams while connor believes the opposite, believing his life has to be mapped out for him. lennox is also a lot like his mother and sees the sweeter things in life instead of the heartless, cold exterior that his oldest brother sees. family: KYSON SELWYN - FATHER - (WOULD BE) 56 (DECEASED) - FORMER CO-LEADER OF THE IRISH MOB TESSA SELWYN - MOTHER - 55 - HOMEMAKER CONNOR SELWYN - BROTHER - 26 - MAFIA BOSS KAHLAN SELWYN - SISTER - 25 - WAITRESS AND SINGER, LIVING IN NEW ORLEANS CURRENTLY ASHER SELWYN - BROTHER - 21 - COLLEGE STUDENT history: (let's allow lennox to explain this for us, shall we?) "i was born in dublin, ireland as the third child in the family. my parents were used to having children by that point and they didn't really find a new one to be all that special. my mother was always the caring one, taking care of me and my older sister kahlan since my father was training connor to be a soldier from toddlerhood. although my older syblings hungered to be part of the 'family business' from the time we were little, i never did. i guess i took more after my mother. i've always been able to care more than my brother connor. as a young child, my parents knew i was different than connor, but my father tried everything he could to turn me into another version of him. he trained me in everything since the time when i could barely walk well, so i knew all of it, but it wasn't my style. i preferred reading and writing and acting to holding a gun. in middle school, i got into my first play and i was so excited, but my father practically had a heart attack when i told him i'd gotten the part of hamlet in a production of the famous shakespearean play. he didn't even show up even though my mom and kahlan and jackson waved encouragingly at me from the back row. i think i began hating him that night. he could never support me in what i wanted, but he expected me to unquestioningly love what he loved. when i went to high school, kahlan had already run away from home at that point, and i got inspired to follow in her footsteps. instead of going to new york, though, i went to scotland where a stray group of my family had wandered in an attempt to get away from their mafia connections. scotland is a great place to hide from the irish since the scots and irish happen to hate each other with a fiery passion, but it isn't such a great place to hide if you are irish. i was sixteen at the time and a bit naive despite my upbringing. i thought i'd be safe and my family wouldn't know where i was, but i was wrong. the thing was, my family wasn't even what i had to worry about. a group of scottish thugs found out i was from dublin and they got it into their heads that that fact made me their enemy. so, one night, after practicing in a local playhouse for a play we were putting on that weekend, i was jumped by the group and beaten to the point where i barely survived. thankfully, someone found it in their generosity to pick me up and drag me home. i still don't know who that was, and my family never saw the person, but i'll be eternally grateful. i wasn't able to see for about a week because my face was so swollen and beaten. after that, the first time i was able to see myself in the mirror i literally threw up because i looked so horrible. my total recovery time was six months. the family doctor thought i would never walk again because my legs weren't only broken, but one of my attackers had stabbed me in the back and caused temporary paralysis from the waist down. the thought of being crippled permanently from the attack urged me to fight back, and i forced myself to get better despite what the doctor thought. after six months, i could walk again. i never told my close family, my father and my brother especially, about the attack because i knew that even though i wasn't really on their close side, they would have found out who did it and killed them. that anger should only be mine to deal with. i've never told anyone, and i don't plan on it. after that, i decided scotland wasn't for me and i traveled to new york to find my sister. that's where i got into the theatre scene really heavily, and i was hired on to a traveling outfit as a stage hand and shadow. i got my first leading role when i was eighteen. it was in a production of angels in america... long ass play. i love acting, but i'll admit that wore me out. i went on to act in various different productions since that point, and it was during a reenactment of macbeth (my mother's favorite play which is where my name comes from) that i got the news that my father died in the earthquake in los angeles. the first thing i did was fly out to ireland where mother was visiting family, and i spent a month with her. she was the strongest person i've ever known. even so, she told me she'd never go back to the states as long as she lived. she decided to move in with her sister in ireland, and she's still there. after that, i moved to california at my sister's request to take care of connor. even though he's good at taking care of himself, he is a loose cannon, and kahlan knew he'd be on the verge of going crazy after our father forced him to shoot him. and she was right. i was probably the last person connor wanted to see, but i think he was grateful for my presence. we don't get along all that well, but it's still good to see family when life sucks. after arriving in california, i found a gig working in a local nightclub as a part-time bouncer, and i try out for television roles in my spare time. i'm also quickly becoming a professional gambler, but that's kinda my night job that no one knows about." royal - a lady never tells - rawr |
