reaver barked happily, splashing around in the water as connor walked down to the water through the hot sand. his feet felt like they were on fire, but the heat was gone the instant the cool pacific ocean lapped over his feet. he shaded his green eyes with his hand and watched reaver splashing around like he was a puppy again. connor honestly loved the dog, unlike he loved anything else, and it was nice to get out and just be normal every once in a while. not that he had a problem being who he was - the mafia don of the irish mob - but he tired of the paperpushing his new position brought him. when his father had still been over the group, connor had only been a soldier and he hadn't known all of the legal crap his father had gone through. now, that was all his job following the untimely death of his father, and he hated that part of it. he enjoyed the killing, he'd been doing it since he was sixteen, but the boring paperwork irritated him.
connor had been raised to be a soldier from childhood. he'd learned to shoot at the ripe age of nine, and he'd killed his first man when he turned sixteen. it was the life he'd lived because his father had made it for him. his siblings were immersed in the life as well, but not as much as he was. his sister kahlan had never been allowed to get involved because their father had wanted her to be a lady, and lennox had never had the desire to be a soldier like connor. asher had been sickly as a boy, and therefore and never been viewed as a prospect in their father's eyes. so there had been connor: the pride and joy. his father had never openly showed favoritism toward connor more than the others, but connor followed so closely in his footsteps, there was rarely a moment they weren't together. there were times when connor wondered if he'd known more about the workings of his father's mind than his mother did. thoughts of his mother, as always, brought up memories of her pain when he'd had to tell her what had happened to his father. how the man he'd idolized had been a victim to an earthquake. when the massive earthquake hit los angeles during one of their gun runs, his father had been victim to a horrible tear in the ground and had been pinned beneath debris. although connor had been able to pull most of the debris off of him, many of kyson's ribs had been broken, and he couldn't move. that was when he had commanded his son to shoot him, to put him out of his misery before the rescue workers could show up and find out what they'd been doing. he'd told connor that his death would protect their family, and to kyson that was what mattered, but connor had argued with him that he could be saved. when his father had denied him the right to argue by pointing out he would only die from the broken ribs and other injuries since they couldn't afford the luxury of going to a hospital considering the mass of firearms they had stashed in the trunk of their car, kyson had ordered connor to shoot him. he'd handed him the gun he wore in the back of his belt and looked him in the eye with the look connor could never say no to.
and connor had shot his father through the head. the day lived on with him in his nightmares, every night, and he often woke up in a cold sweat, thinking he was back on that street, seeing his father's green eyes boring into him, forcing him to commit the most heinous sin he could imagine. connor had killed men before, but that had been different. it tore him apart, but he wouldn't admit it to anyone. he'd hidden his sorrow and anger by fucking any woman he could find and drinking himself into a deep stupor. he would go out and kill a perp just for fun, but none of it eased the pain. knowing him all too well, his sister kahlan had urged their brother lennox to move to sapphire bay to 'watch out' for connor, despite lennox's hatred of his older brother. the feeling was mutual, but connor did appreciate the closeness of a family member despite his constant ridiculing of his softer-hearted sibling.
tired of dwelling on depressing thoughts, he jogged in place to warm up his muscles. he needed to burn off some steam to get his mind cleared of the behind-the-desk funk it had settle into. hating the feeling of his muscles growing weak and cold, he felt the desire to run, to get the blood flowing again. eyeing reaver who was now watching him expectantly as he prepared for the run, he suddenly took off, throwing the dog off guard as he sprinted off down the beach. behind him, he could hear the frantic splashing of the irish wolfhound as he fell into pursuit and began to gain on his master, and connor felt the ocean breeze hit him in the face like he was a wild stallion loosed back into the wild from captivity. the muscles in his legs began to burn as reaver caught up to him and loped at his side, and he ran until he just couldn't run anymore.
dashing into the water, he dove in and felt the displacement of water as reaver dove in nearby. the cool of the ocean washed over him and he smiled to himself before pulling himself back to the surface. bursting out of the water, he sucked in a breath of air and shook his head, sending water spraying all around him in a huge arc. rubbing his eyes, he opened them and realized he'd just sprayed water all over a particularly attractive blond and her friends. with an apologetic smile, he shrugged his shoulders slightly. "excuse me, miss," he apologized in his strong irish accent. NOTES it kinda sucks, i ain't gonna lie. hahaha WORDS 1025 CLOTHES right here TAG reese

. { ❀ } . YOU'DFLYUPACROSSTHESKYJUST TO PROVE YOUR POINT NOW WOULDN'T YOU?• { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • It was the first time in a week that Reese had actually slept in her own loft. The other nights she'd either been up all night in some club, or she was some other mans home, doing her usual. This was the life she had lived for years, or at least since junior year of high school. It had had been then when she'd first ruined the innocence her father had planned for her. With the combination of her often made-up appearance, and slightly ditsy personality, it was inevitable for her to be the target of some of the young men with lower morals.
Yawning, Reese padded down the winding staircase, her long fingers trailing the handrail. She always loved waking up in her own home. It made he feel safe and... cleaner. Whenever she awoke in some strange place it was like a layer of dirt had crawled under her skin. Not here. In this loft she could actually feel at home. Except for the fact that she never kept any real food around. Reese frowned and looked through the fridge, the cabinets, and the pantry. All that was left was a box of stale Wheat Thins and a bag of dark chocolate M&M's. Reese never bothered to shop for food, and hadn't thought of asking the maid to do it. Besides, candy was her one weakness in any situation, so she would've found her way to the bag sooner or later.
Popping two to three into her mouth, Reese began to drift off, tracing the bags outline. It wasn't until her eyes found the clock did she realize she was running a good twenty minutes behind what she'd planned in her head, which was a pretty big accomplishment for her having never been one to plan. Today was different though. She wasn't sleeping till five at night to wake up and party some more. Today was a break from the norm, out on the sunny beach with a few of her friends. None of them were exactly close friends however. They were all simply people she'd surrounded herself with in cases where Charlotte or Svetlana couldn't accompany her on her many outings.
In her own record time, Reese had put on her make-up, bikini, and clothes. Revving up her tiny cars engine, she shot off, sunglasses covering her bright blue eyes. With the top down, her long blonde hair swirled around, constantly blocking her view of the road. But it didn't matter much. The beach was only a few blocks down from her own dwelling and she could always pay off whoever she hit. Maybe.
The beach that day was relatively empty, besides the runners, screaming kids, and young sunbathers like herself. As Reese got out, a squeal was heard. She grinned and turned, accepting a hug from one of her many friends."Hey!" She uttered before another young woman grabbed her by the arm and ushered her on the beach. Reese gasped a small bit at the burning sand that had slipped into her flip-flops. The group quickly found themselves a spot near the water however, easing their burning feet.
The relief that came, was soon taken away just as Reese slipped out of the clothes she had on, leaving just a bikini, for a young man had dived right in front of them, sending cold droplets everywhere. Reese held in a shriek. Her blonde hair now sagged in places where it had gotten wet. She focused her eyes on the man that resurfaced, having intended to glare and snap at him. However his accent and good looks threw her off. His face was chiseled, and his hair was a dark mop on his head. Reese couldn't help but be absorbed by him. It was a strange feeling for her too. Normally, the guys pawned after her. However she couldn't help but want to draw herself to this young man. She couldn't quite place his accent either, making him all the more mysterious to her. In that moment she forgot about getting wet and simply offered a small smile." A little water won't kill us." Reese said in a joking manner. It was the opposite of what she would've said to a less attractive man. This one just happened to be in the right place at the right time, or at least for Reese. For a moment she wondered how long it would take her to get him to buy her a drink, but then she erased such thoughts. Today she would not think about partying, drinking or trading out her guy of the day. Unless she was forced to, and right now the young man was close to forcing her.

despite his usual murderous demeanor, connor selwyn could be a ladies' man when he wanted. most women were attracted to him by his power, whether they knew he was the irish mob boss or just sensed the aura around him, and his natural good looks didn't hurt matters either. while he was distinctly european, the foreign air to his looks attracted the women who preferred something exotic, yet he still looked enough like a boy-next-door to attract the other end of the spectrum. needless to say, his features served him well if he found the need to seduce a woman, but as he looked at the sparkling blond before him, he didn't feel the need to seduce her. like any healthy young man, he was instantly attracted to her, and his mind went to sex, but something about her cooled his inner monster. the feeling was a strange one for a man so accustomed to being bloodthirsty and violent, and it threw him momentarily off guard although it didn't show on his face.
he laughed when she said a little water wouldn't kill them. if only she knew. he knew at least twenty different ways to drown someone, and some of them were rather creative, but this innocent girl had no idea she was talking to a trained killer. since childhood, connor had been honed into a finely tuned machine. however, when her blue eyes looked at him, and he could see the innocence there, he went soft on the inside like he never had before. after everything he had done and seen and been through, and this girl could do this to him the moment he saw her? he didn't even know her name. he felt useless for the first time in his life, and that impotence frightened him. like a caged beast, he felt his spine prickle but his smile only grew. there was no reason for alarm. reaver paddled nearby, and the dog was trained to alert him of possible danger. additionally, when he felt cornered, connor tended to react more violently than usual. so he had no need to worry. it was just that following recent events - the constantino walking into the police station crying about a rape and a little photographer boy from washington looking to find the man who'd destroyed his girlfriend - connor felt on edge.
"that's good to know," he replied with a flirty smile, allowing the current to carry him closer to the pretty girl. "i had no intention to pull you away from your friends, but seeing as it's already happened, i can't say i'm sorry." he winked and offered her another smile. splashing behind him drew his attention to reaver who paddled up at his side and panted happily in his face. giving the irish wolfhound a noogie, he playfully dunked him as the dog pawed at him and pushed him back in the water, playing. when their wrestling was over, connor glanced back at the blond and smiled as reaver swam off to do whatever it was he wanted. "i'm connor by the way," he introduced himself. her friends were a little distance away now so he had no fear they would hear his name. he knew the police knew his first name, but they had no definite ties to him precisely. even so, he liked to reserve his name for only the most important occasions, and somehow this intriguing female warranted and introduction. he'd never been instantly attracted to a woman in this way, well not for quite a while. he'd been obsessed with a girl before, and that had ended badly.
when connor was nineteen, he'd made the mistake of becoming obsessed with a girl: archer carrigan, or donata constantino as she was then known. it had been his mission to kidnap her, to use her as a bargaining chip against her family, the italian mafia. he'd become consumed by the mission, and she had become an object he had to obtain. being foolish as he was then, that desire to 'have' her had been misconstrued as 'love' in his mind. he'd lost his mind in that obsession, ended up raping the girl, stupidly leaving her untied in the house where his family was holding her hostage, and barely made it out with his life in the ensuing gunfight. he'd believed her dead that night when the house collapsed from structural damage during the gunfight between the selwyns and constantinos, but she'd shown up in sapphire bay and, following a car accident, had regained her memory of the night: a memory she had forgotten completely until only a week or so ago. much to connor's chagrin, she also remembered his first name which meant he was essentially confined to his house or to secluded areas like the beach. not that his mansion was particularly horrible to be stuck in, but he was a naturally roaming soul and hated staying in one place for too long. hence his day out at the beach.
"would it be rude of me to ask if i could buy you lunch? surely your friends would notice the absence of your glowing personality," he complimented her with a flirty smile. NOTES whoot whoot! WORDS 869 CLOTHES right here TAG reese

. { ❀ } . YOU'DFLYUPACROSSTHESKYJUST TO PROVE YOUR POINT NOW WOULDN'T YOU?• { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • Reese couldn't help but love the feeling that rose to the pit of her stomach as the young Irish man looked at her. His dark eyes has a sense of mystery and hardness that made her lean forward a bit, revealing a bit more than she should have on her 'day-off'. It was a subconscious thing however, or perhaps an instinct. It seemed she could do nothing without trying to weasel her way into someone's pants. But she couldn't turn down such a handsome fellow, and he had started the conversation after all.
She grinned as he laughed, pretending that she knew why. To Reese it hadn't exactly been that funny but perhaps it was different for foreign folks? Shrugging her confusion off, Reese turned her head to the side whilst he talked, as if every word was the most important she'd ever heard. In truth, she was more tracing over his face...neck... chest... and further south until her eyes darted upwards. Another guilty grin slipped onto her features, thinking it had been obvious that her eyes had a mind of their own. Not that she cared. This was just her usual plan. She'd already cast her line, it was all up to young lad to bite.
Assuming it was working, Reese watched as the current brought him over to her. Yet again, the same smile began to grow, and she leaned forward a bit more, elbows on her knees. Well, I'm glad your not. Secretly neither am I. She said returning his wink. To hell with her resolution to a day without men and drinking. She was addicted it seemed. A chuckle bubbled up her throat then as the Irish man began to play with the dog that paddled behind him. However it stopped the minute he dunked the dog. Reese gasped a bit leaned over even more making sure the animal was still alive. However, she lost her balance on the sandbar and toppled into the deeper part of the water. She sputtered, shocked from the experience. Her blonde hair, having been nicely straightened before, was now in tight curls around her. Luckily she'd chosen her waterproof mascara, otherwise she'd have been running the other way.
Taking a sharp breath, Reese finally looked up, offering a small, shamed smile. Reese. Pleasure to meet you I'm sure. Her tone was a bit more sour than intended, but she followed it up with a genuine smile to show that she wasn't just some bitchy valley girl. Just a valley girl. Looking down, Reese sighed as she looked at her soaked suit. It would take forever to dry and her naturally curly hair would probably expand a few centimeters. Worried about the image Connor would take away from this, Reese hurriedly brushed through her hair with her fingers, only making it worse. She sighed to herself and decided to go ahead and face the fact that her own stupidity had destroyed any chance she had.
It was why she caught so off guard when he asked her to lunch. A bright smile, revealing white teeth came from nowhere. Sure! They can always find another blonde here." Reese said, her lack of common sense and at times, her lack of a proper IQ for a woman her age, was shining bright. She never caught those moments however, which was probably why she received so many odd looks at random times. Not that she caught those either.

the girl had seemed like just an innocent girl at first, but as she flirted with him, he instantly picked up a bit of a floosy vibe from her. it probably wasn't intentional, and connor selwyn had absolutely no problem with floosies, it just surprised him for the briefest of moments, but, of course, he didn't show it. his smile broadened as she drifted toward him through the water. he noticed her run her fingers hastily through her hair, and he knew she was primping on his behalf, and the realization made him grin to himself. he liked noticing a woman wanted to look good for him, especially one so beautiful and available. when she agreed to have lunch with him, he nodded and glanced over at her friends who, indeed, hadn't seemed to notice her swimming away in the midst of their own fun. in his line of work, one always noticed how people interacted with their close networks, and the fact that her friends didn't notice her actions spoke rather loudly to him. he stored the information away for potential future use and tilted his head in the direction of the taco shack on the shore.
when they had swam out of the water and climbed onto the shore, connor ruffled his wet, black hair with his hand and smiled over at reese. "i'm sure they couldn't find another blonde like you even if they looked," he assured her with a wink. reaver padded up next to him, shaking himself off as he reached his owner's side, and connor cursed under his breath as the dog got water all over him once more. with a laugh, he tousled the irish wolfhound's fur and pointed toward the parking lot where, even now, he could see one of his men standing guard, clothed for the beach but ever watchful even as he pretended to be beachcombing. the dog recognized the man and took off toward him, leaving the young man and woman as they made their way through the people around the taco shack.
"tacos okay with you? there aren't many options unless you'd be willing for me to kidnap you and take you someplace nicer," he joked, chuckling even as the double meaning entertained him. it would be so easy to kidnap her, she'd been so willing to trust a handsome stranger, but he didn't feel the need to do so. kidnapping reese wouldn't get him anything but unneeded attention from the police, and he didn't feel like dealing with more of that than necessary. instead, if he could only get as little as a one night stand out of her, that didn't seem like an unfair trade to him.
"if you do need a ride somewhere though, in all honesty, i'd be willing to give you a lift," he remarked with a smile, the lilt in his irish voice playful. "seeing as how you've abandoned your friends and left them destitute without your pleasant company." he offered her another wink and a smile as he ordered a nachos and cheese plate. one couldn't get this sort of food in ireland, and he loved vegging out on it even if he did tease lennox for eating a five guys. . { ❀ } . YOU'DFLYUPACROSSTHESKYJUST TO PROVE YOUR POINT NOW WOULDN'T YOU?• { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • { ❀ } • Even though she'd been flirted with and had men comment on her appearance before, Reese couldn't help but feel... honored by Connor's words. Maybe it was the Irish accent. Or his eyes. What was she going on about again? Chuckling to herself, Reese followed him up the beach, her blonde hair, which was curling from having gotten wet, was tucked to one shoulder. As the dog came up behind her and shook itself, she shrieked, hands covering her face. Reese had never been one for surprises, therefore he first reaction was to alert everyone else. Her face turned a cherry red as she realized she hadn't been the quietest. However, through her embarrassment, she watched the dog run off to another man near the parking lot. Could've been his brother... or a friend. Reese didn't care much though. She'd made enough of a fool of herself and now had a lot of cleaning up to do if she wanted to even have a chance at this foreign lad.
"Taco's sound great!" Her voice was more distant now, but still cheerful. Inside, she was trying to find a way to fix the mess that she thought she'd made. Normally, she had a drink in her hand, a dress that was too short and much too low, and the man across from her would've been intoxicated anyways. Things were much harder when sober. However, she could do it. After all, he had asked her to lunch already...
She smiled at his remark about giving her a ride. "Well, I'm pretty sure I have a flat... so a ride would be nice." Reese mirrored one of his own winks. Her lie came easily, though it was needed with how red her face had gotten. As they reached the taco bar, Reese scanned the menu quickly, noticing how every bit of food would end up all over the place. Nacho's, supreme burrito's, and taco salads. Inevitably, this 'date' was proving hard to fix. Frowning a bit, Reese bit her lip and decided on just a water. Food wasn't that necessary anyway...
After ordering, she turned to her Irish company. So, I'm curious, did you move from Europe, or does that amazing accent come with the arms?" She grinned, overplaying her cards, if such a thing existed. Reese leaned against the counter, taking a short sip of her water.

normally, connor wasn't this kind to anyone. granted, all he wanted to do was get into the girl's pants, but still. he usually wasn't even this nice to girls he wanted to screw. maybe it had something to do with the atmosphere on the beach. the first nice day out in the sun since, he couldn't remember when, and he was feeling a bit boyish. however, he couldn't resist his attraction to the blonde for much longer. he ordered a few fish tacos and moved to a nearby table overlooking the ocean and the people frolicking on the beach. his tanned skin felt hot from the added sun he'd gotten while in the waves, and he looked up at reese as she settled across from him, offering her a smile as she asked him about his accent. it wasn't something he could hide if he wanted to, and he didn't want to. his voice was his heritage, and he was proud of that heritage.
"it's an all inclusive package actually," he joked, with a smile. "i was born and raised in dublin... ireland. moved to the states as a lad." of course, he left out the part about growing up in the irish mob his father had founded with his uncle, and that he'd been trained to use a gun since the age of five. he didn't include the fact that he was the current leader of said-mob following the death of his father (a death perpetrated at the very hands of the son sitting across the table from her). he neglected to mention the fact that he was becoming the leader of the crime underworld of sapphire bay, and it was his orders that had gotten a local flower shop blown to smithereens and a retired member of the city council shot to death at his own retirement party. yes, connor neglected to mention plenty of things as he swallowed his food and looked up at reese with an innocent smile. he finished off his tacos quickly - he'd been ravenous without realizing it - and wiped his face, tossing the trash away in one of the nearby bins. motioning for her to follow, he stepped back into the sun and headed for the parking lot. he noticed his man had already departed with reaver, surely waiting to follow him at a safe distance once connor left, so he was 'alone' with reese for now. "i should be heading out actually. could i offer you a ride? anywhere you like," he offered with a handsome smile. if he was lucky, this would be his in to getting exactly what it was he wanted. he didn't know if he could get that lucky, but he was connor selwyn. he'd had that sort of luck in the past. "i have a nice little flat in the city if you need a place to... spend the afternoon?" he posed the proposition with a slight upward lilt at the end, as he stepped toward her and smiled, his fingers gently grabbing for hers. he owned an apartment in the heights of downtown sapphire bay, somewhere he could take clients and lovers without having to show them his actual home in the countryside: the mansion he shared with the rest of the inner circle of the mob.
they had just met, any wise girl would turn him down. he wouldn't be surprised if she did, but he hoped she enjoyed living on the edge enough to accept his offer. he hadn't had sex since... well, since one of his many callgirls, and who knew when that was? it could've been a day, it could've been a week... they all blended together into insignificance after a while. he wanted something more repetitive and pleasurable. there had been juniper, but the little bitch had gone and turned into a rat, and well, the sex wasn't good enough for him anyway. maybe reese could because his next casual fling, available for the taking whenever he felt the need for her. he would lavish her with gifts and trinkets, buy her sex and affection in a way, and he would be pleased with the routine. if only she would accept.
