The man above who is beautiful and all things magical is Sasha Petrova, playby Henry Cavill though it is entirely negotiable. (Other suggestions: Alexander Skarsgard, Jared Leto, Michael Fassbender, James Franco just to name a few lol) I just think he's totally hot and so does Liv over there! But yes, the basics! He is the supposed older brother of Liv, by four years making him roughly twenty four years old. He used to work for the Russian mafia as part of their elite group of hit men and was the strongest of them, as well as the youngest before he recruited Liv when she was ten years old. He was traded by his father to the mafia in order to settle a debt; an event that changed him from being the awesome older brother to the asshole type.
Why, you say? Because upon being traded over when he was young, he found out he wasn't, in fact, a Petrova. He was the bastard son of the ruling mafia lord at the time and the proof was that his name was that of his biological father and his biological mother was killed by his father's wife. His father's wife then sent Sasha off to live with her younger sister who was supposedly sterile but, four years later, Liv was born. They were told they were siblings when, in fact, they are nowhere near biologically related. After fining out this complicated little story about his true history, he found it easier to recruit Liv after she witnessed the death of their supposed parents. He trained her exactly how he was trained and along the way, he found himself, well, wanting her but because he figured she could never know the truth, he kept his distance romantically and simply consoled her as a brother and mentor. She eventually became just as good as he was and when they both found out that their parents were killed by the Russian mafia, though deep down Sasha didn't really care, he knew that the event had played a tremendous part in Liv's psychological development and had been the turning point from her being a little girl to a woman and the reason why the young, sweet her turned into a cynical and bitter woman. Therefore, he figured he'd help her seek revenge-they'd go rogue-and maybe then he'd be able to tell her they aren't related and they could be together but nope, things had to be put on hold.
He faked his own death at the hands of the Russian mafia in order to keep Liv away from their influence and from essentially getting caught up in the entire lifestyle. Now, a little over a year later, her name has shown up on his desk as the next person to kill. Feeling he could be heartless like the two of them were known for being, he followed her, though it was tricky given all the false aliases, to Sapphire Bay where he isn't sure whether reuniting with her will be a good thing or a bad thing-or if he'd be able to pull the trigger before she did.
