The lines of Beaujeu remained hazy for a while, the commune located in the eastern part of France was attempted to be handed back and forth between various holders of high positions. The Beaujeu family had founded themselves directly on the commune and started off as the richest in the small piece of France. When the land was reverted back to ownership under the crown after Louise of Savoy's death in 1531 the Beaujeu family invested heavily in acquiring the land. In the year 1540 the Beaujeu family succeeding in securing ownership over the commune. It is the only piece of France left that remains to be overseen by the eye of Lady Abelle Beaujeu. For this fact alone the commune and the Beaujeu family maintain a serious amount of pride. Her mother, Abelle, almost ended the line of Beajeu lineage with a careless mistake in her early years of adulthood. Conservative was always the way that the Beaujeu family, the family having a strong background in the Catholic religion. Abelle was eighteen when she went for a visit to the capital of the country, on the search for a designer who would create a modest dress for her inauguration ceremony to become the next Lady of Beaujeu. With only her driver and maid the young woman was unleashed to a world that her strict mother, Dorothée, had barred her from. Needless to say, three months later when her inauguration was scheduled a slight bump was seen beneath her dress. Dorothée interrogated her daughter, was revealed to the truth, and promptly had to spin a lie that one of the family's most trusted adversaries had been courting Abelle for quite some time. Abelle's reputation was saved but the shame Dorothée felt could never be lifted. Abelle took up her position as Lady and Honoree was raised in the same conservative fashion that her grandmother ensured she was introduced to at an early age. Her tutor was a dignified older woman and the bulk of the housing staff were female. Dorothée went as far to secure a female gardener. Honoree's grandmother was the one who saw to all of her educational needs, since Lady Abelle was constantly busy with the happenings of the commune. Private lessons with Dorothée were given every Tuesday and Thursday and a hour of private studies occurred on Saturday morning to ensure that Honoree was seeing the values of traditional marriage, abstinence education, the roles of men and women, and opposition to all things that went against tradition. Honoree was meek, submissive, bright, and innocent. She was the spitting image of Abelle but only this time Dorothée was assured that she would raise this Beaujeu the correct way. She would be the last lady left to represent the family and Dorothée would see that she remained the perfect image of a proper lady. Honoree remained oblivious to the world, going throughout her teenage years still under the guidance of her aging grandmother. By the age of eighteen Honoree had taken part in etiquette classes, partook in several charities, completed community service every weekend, sailed, played tennis, held tea parties, rode horses, and planned much more that her grandmother closely documented. She was shown on the screens of televisions daily, being showcased as "The French Version of Perfection." She could not have made her grandmother any more proud. While she was ignorant her grandmother did not mind one bit, she was solely focused on preparing her granddaughter for the time when she would take over the position of Lady. She had saw to it herself that she took public speaking classes, mingled among the commoners, and sat through agonizingly long and dull conferences that Lady Abelle had to attend. All of her grandmother's efforts would be put to waste, for she died when Honoree turned twenty three, and she would have been the only one to see to it that she took over the spot of Lady. it couldn't be said that beaujeu really missed the past lady after she died. her death was sudden, but she went peacefully in her sleep, yet the people were respectful enough to mourn. abelle was not torn up, she had been on a sour note with her mother ever since the birth of honoree. honoree was not sure where to go from the death of her grandmother. she had been the one who had overseen everything she had done. never once was she required to make a choice for herself. her grandmother had been her brain basically. abelle saw how lost her daughter was immediately and began to worry about how she would recover. the one thing that abelle knew for a fact was that she did not want her to end up being a stiff board with no splash of personality. she arranged something quickly, looking to one of her close advisers to see what they could pull out of their sleeves. sapphire bay turned into the answer: a quaint place that was always brewing with drama. the press was told that honoree was "heading on an official visit to scope out prospects." it was vague and of course the foreign press latched onto her journey. face - sixteen - six years |
