RUMOR HAS IT, RUMOR HAS IT I'M THE ONE YOUR LEAVING HER FOR Biting her bottom lip, she looked in the reflection and sighed. This was wrong and she knew it, but she refused to think about what would happen. This walk through the park and walk through town was between two very good and newly formed friends and that was it. But Bee knew that it wouldn't be just a walk. Her heart had started beating fast the other day as the words exchanged between her and her new friend, Owen Andrews. Just the name, just the thought of being alone with him made her weak at the knees and made her swoon with delight. But Bee simply passed this off as an attraction, as her husband was miles away working. Her head bowed at the thought, because he hadn't been home in weeks. Being alone, with only her new puppy, made her want to cry more then not. It sucked, knowing that Sean was flirting and kissing an actress from his new movie and she was stuck in a town that either wanted nothing to do with her or was obsessing over her. Bee had grown up here in Sapphire Bay, hell, she had been born in the little hospital over the hill. Yet she wasn't happy to be back. Her twin sister, Becca, hated her and her husband was no where. Yet, she had Owen.
Sweet, charming Owen. A gentleman she had met on another one of those silly interviews. He had charmed the pants off of her (not literally, of course) and made her smile. He knew how to be sweet as sugar and charming as...well...ever. Owen was perfect. He had even offered to take her on a walk around the town she hadn't been to in years. She didn't know where anything was, and if Owen wanted to take the blond for a walk, well, that was perfect.
Parking her car in the spot across from the park, Bee stepped out and moaned. Snow flakes were beginning to fall and drift in the wind and she cursed mother nature. California was supposed to be warm, not snowy and painful. Yet here she was, in jeans and a light jacket with a blouse beneath, already feeling a bit chilly. But she didn't have any warm clothes, so Bee ran to the store across the street and purchased a pair of gloves, a scarf and a hat. There, at least she was a little bit warmer then before. Biting her bottom lip once more, her eyes landed on a familiar male figure and she felt butterflies rise once again.
Sneaking up behind him, she looped her arm through his and rested her cheek against his arm. "I was going to scare you, but I thought better of it" she teased, looking up into his eyes. They were such a pretty color and Bee suddenly felt a heat of color rush towards her cheeks. Everything seemed perfect, and she knew that she couldn't be the only one feeling this attraction. She couldn't be. That would mean that Bee was a horrible wife. Which she was, now that she thought about it, considering she was out taking a walk with a man that was not her husband. But what no one knew wouldn't hurt them. "Thanks for offering to take me on a walk around town. Most people haven't been too kind to me lately. Apparently, I'm supposed to be a scary monster or something" at least, that was what the tabloids were printing.

He was more than excited. He was actually probably way too excited for this meeting. He knew that he shouldn’t be looking forward to it as much as he was, but he couldn’t help himself. From the very first time that he had seen this young woman, he knew that he had wanted to get to know her better. It was foolish and stupid for many reasons, but Owen just could not see past it all. She was married, but that jerk of a husband was never around her. He was never there to comfort her when she seemed so stressed out about being back in Sapphire Bay. And number two, she was famous. Her name was known throughout the country and he wasn’t going to get his hopes up. Why would someone as successful as Bridget Goodwin want anything to do with a lowly journalist? He was an idiot for even allowing himself to fall for her. He just couldn’t get his mind off the blushes and the laughs that she had when she was around him though. Or was he just imagining it all hoping that it would and could be something more? This was foolish.
Shaking his head as he changed his clothes, he wondered if this was the right choice. He didn’t want to mess her life up for her. She had a lot more on the line than he did and he’d never forgive himself if he ruined her career. He could just imagine the tabloids now. Famous actress Bridget Goodwin seen walking through the park with strange man. Then they would find out he was a journalist. That was a bit of a jump from her successful husband. Sighing to himself, Owen just changed into a pair of nicer jeans and a grey long sleeved sweater. Beneath that he wore a simple white tee. He knew that it was going to be chilly so he wanted to put some layers on. When he was dressed, he pulled on a pair of black boots and then reached for his black jacket. It was collared so at least he could flip that up to fend off the cold for the most part. He didn’t own any warmer clothes because this was the first time he had honestly seen snow in California. He was here for the warmth, but he couldn’t say that he hated snow. He actually loved it. He just wished that he was more prepared.
He lived close to the park so he didn’t bother pulling out his Jeep Wrangler to get him there. Using his own two feet, he reached the park in about ten minutes. Shoving his hands into his pockets, he stood with his shoulders hunched to keep the chill of the air out. As the snowflakes started falling, Owen’s face lit with a smile. Turning his face up to the falling snow, he performed the most childish act that he would ever do. Sticking out his tongue, he remained that way until he caught one on it. Grinning foolishly when he did, he was suddenly aware of an arm being looped through his. Stiffening, he turned his head to the side and saw the beautiful features of Bee. The smile lit his face once more and he laughed at her words. ”Well some head’s up would have been nice. You caught me catching snowflakes.” He admitted sheepishly and then matched her step with his. He kept his arm with hers, wanting to give her some extra warmth from the snow. Having flipped up his collar, he inched closer to her as they walked along, keeping his own hands in his pockets. He already felt happier now that she was here. ”So..where do you want to go first milady?” After he spoke those words, he leaned down a bit so that his lips brushed her ears as he spoke his next comment. "You're no monster Bee. I'd gladly spend all of the time in the world with someone as beautiful and kind as you."

RUMOR HAS IT, RUMOR HAS IT I'M THE ONE YOUR LEAVING HER FOR Being around him made her realize this relationship was soon going to be an addiction. There wouldn’t be a night that went by that Bee wouldn’t be thinking about Owen. The thoughts wouldn’t necessarily be sexual or dirty, but just the way he treated her. He didn’t pretend that she was a goddess or that just because her face was plastered through millions of cities that she was different. Owen understood that she wanted to be treated normal, and that was what he did. She didn’t need to pretend that she was anything she wasn’t, like when she was around Sean. With Sean, Bee pretended that she didn’t care about the snide remarks about her weight, or the comments on how she needed to be busy. Yes, she loved her husband very much, but he was a harsh bastard. Bee knew the moment that they had come to Sapphire Bay, something would change. This was where she had grown up and this was the place that meant the most to her. She could feel herself loving him, but not being completely in love with him. And that was what scared her the most.
She had never cheated before, simply had ended the relationship. But marriage, and a well-publicized one, was somewhat harder. Rumors would go around and she wouldn’t be able to deny some of them. Magazines would pretend that an ‘insider’ had given them all the dirt, when in reality, everything was made up. And not only could Bee not do that to her career, but she couldn’t do it to Sean’s and Owen’s. This was not affecting one person; this would be affecting two others, who were very close to her. Not to mention what her mother would say when, or if, the news came out. If an affair even happened. Owen could think of her as a friend, and that would be it. Perhaps he hadn’t even thought of her and the two had randomly found each other on skype. He could have no emotional attachment and just be using her to get ahead in his career. It had happened before, and a nice guy like him could be putting on a façade to trick her. Bee was a trusting person, and to think that someone who made her heart beat fast would betray her like that killed her. Everything was supposed to be perfect, and it no longer was. If only she had met Owen a year or two ago and perhaps put a pause in the wedding planning. Everything would have been different, and perhaps, less complicated.
Listening to his deep voice, Bee shrugged before tilting her head up and allowing the cool flakes to drift into her mouth. Snow was something she wasn’t used to in Sapphire Bay, but something she was used to from her many trips to NYC. Her clothes reflected that as she shivered slightly and moved closer to Owen, his body heat warming her up. And maybe it was the fact that she was so close to him. ”I sometimes do that in Central Park when traveling to the big apple. Sean always tells me to stop being childish, but he’s a big grown up so it doesn’t matter,” she said, sticking her tongue out at the thought. Another flake fell onto her tongue and she let out a little giggle before retracting her tongue. The two began to walk and Bee’s eyes glanced around. The good thing about Sapphire Bay was that there were not a lot of people with cameras. No one really cared all too much that she was famous, and allowed her to continue on with her life. ”You’re the expert. I haven’t been back here in years, good sir. So take me on a journey, to places you enjoy. And somewhere warm” she said as she shivered once again. His lips brushed against her ear and she felt her face heat up. ”Why, someone should have been named Prince Charming instead of Owen. And there has to be something else you would rather be doing then walking in snow all day” Bee mentioned in return. ”But I’m glad you don’t think of me as a monster.”

He wished that he didn't need to worry about looking over his shoulder every time that he met with Bee. He didn't want anyone to question what they were doing, but he didn't know how much longer he could use the interview explanation. His deadline for printing the interview with Bridget Goodwin was drawing near and he honestly didn't know how he would make excuses to see her afterwards without raising suspicions. Could they get away with they were only friends? He doubted it because of how close they seemed to be whenever they were together. Even when he was asking her questions for his piece, they weren't sitting across from one another. They had been sitting next to one another on her couch and he had been horribly aware of his leg touching hers the entire time. It was the worse form of torture and he wished that there was something he could do to erase it all. Why did she have to be married? This was going to be a scandal. Owen could just feel it in his very core and he wondered if he should just stop now. He would never forgive himself if he ruined not only her career, but her life. He was a lowly journalist.
She had everything with her husband now and the guilt that coursed through him was overwhelming. He would never be able to buy her expensive jewelry and beautiful clothes. He'd never be able to take her to a fancy restaurant where a thousand dollar bill would be like pocket change to him. He could barely afford to live where he was living now. He was one of those people that made it paycheck to paycheck, and he was struggling to make ends meet even now. This interview was supposed to be his big break, but he could lose everything if he got too attached. Looking down as he walked beside her, his brow furrowed in worry and guilt as he felt her move closer to him. He didn't push her away because he never would. Owen wanted her more than anyone in his life and he willed things to be easier, less complicated. If they could just run away together everything would be alright, but that would never happen. He was in a position in which he could just pack up and leave. She was not. Sighing softly, he tried his best to hide his discomfort and his uneasiness, glancing sideways at her as he heard her soft voice beside him. He allowed her to snuggle closer to him to help fight the chill of the snow, and he couldn't help but smile. She of all people should have been prepared for the snow what with her multiple trips to New York. Keeping that comment to himself, he listened, as he always would. Owen was a listener and that would never change. Not ever. It was not only his job description, but it was always something that he loved to do.
He loved that he could be there for someone. When she mentioned Sean, he looked up, his breath catching immediately. A flash of annoyance and anger crossed over his features as he thought of her jerk of a husband. He didn't treat her well at all and Owen wished that he could change all of that. Sighing once more, he gave her arm a light squeeze with his free hand. "Well don't you worry your pretty little head. I'll catch snowflakes with you all day and be as childish as possible." He admitted with a cheeky grin and then wondered if maybe he shouldn't have said that. He didn't want to make this harder than it already was. Shaking his head slightly and hoping she didn't notice his sudden change of mood, he glanced down at her once more as she began to speak. "More like Robin Hood. You've gotta be rich to be a Prince, love." He said honestly, giving her a bit of a sad, small smile. Trying to brush it off, he stepped forward at her request. "There just so happens to be a pastry shop up ahead that has amazing hot chocolate. Or coffee. Whichever you prefer. Come on." He urged her, and then picked up the pace so they could warm up a bit on the way. As they reached the shop, Owen released her and reached to open the door for her, letting her in before he himself followed after her. "Get whatever you want. My treat. Their cupcakes are good too. Not that I've ever had them before." He admitted with an innocent smile, hoping she would enjoy herself.

RUMOR HAS IT, RUMOR HAS IT I'M THE ONE YOUR LEAVING HER FOR Had she met him years before, before Sean had swept her off her feet and tossed her aside like a rag doll, everything would have been perfect. He was handsome, he a listener, a humorous man, a man that brought her heartache. Owen, in all purpose, was her hopeless lover. She dreamed of what they could be if there wasn’t someone else in the picture, if a ring wasn’t on her hand. The ring which was missing. Bee was aware of his advances, and she was aware of the feeling blooming towards him. It wasn’t fair at all and someone was punishing her. He would never get hired if he got involved with her, and she would be named as a home wrecker. That was what it came down to. Bee couldn’t escape the reality of her publicized life like Owen could. Recently, she wished she wasn’t a star, she wished she was an English teacher that could just disappear into the world. But without a college degree, she knew that she was doomed for a life of acting. She loved acting, but she hated the complications that it brought. There was something between she and Owen, a passion that she had never had before and it was killing her. Everything seemed to be falling apart; her relationships seemed to be fading into the background. Bee had no idea how she could have lived without Owen and did not want to go back to that time in her life.
Jobs meant nothing to her, and he knew that deep down. It may seem like that, but her bank account had enough money for her to survive for years. And as they walked, she saw the flicker of annoyance pass through his face. Sean was a topic she needed to avoid, but she couldn’t. He was part of her life, and while Bee knew that there was hatred towards Sean, she couldn’t help mentioning his flaws. Yes, Sean was human but it seemed like the two had done more fighting then loving. A year and a half into the marriage, four months without making love, and she wanted out. But couldn’t. Part of her held onto the fantasy that everything would work out, even though she felt as though she was falling in love with Owen in a way that would never be the same to her love for Sean. ”Perfect. I love being childish, as you know.” she teased, sticking her tongue out and catching a snowflake in her mouth. The ice melted instantly and she closed her mouth, a small smile teasing her lips. But she felt the sudden change in mood and she inched closer, wanting to make him smile. Owen wasn’t allowed to be unhappy, because she knew it was all her fault. Bee was complicated and she couldn’t stop being around him.
”Robin Hood helped the poor, therefore he was better than any prince” she said. Money didn’t matter, and yet it seemed like it did to Owen. She wasn’t rich growing up and now that she had money, apparently it was supposed to mean everything. ”Smile!” she said, showing him a big smile as they continued their journey. The two picked up the pace and made their ways towards a small pastry shop. He opened the door for her like a gentleman and she was about to say that it was her treat, but he beat her to it. ”I can pay” she said as she took in the small shop. Already she felt her fingers warming up and she immediately felt at home. The little shop was warm and cozy and everything that reminded her of home. As the two made their way towards the counter, she picked a medium hot chocolate and a small chocolate cupcake. She took a bite of the cupcake and smiled. ”Perfectly delicious” she said, sitting down at a table. She moved over in the booth to leave Owen room next to her.
Her eyes glanced out the window, taking the sudden snow that picked up. Across the snow she saw her car buried underneath it. She poked Owen, her eyes wide. ”My car is buried in the snow!” she said, a sliver of panic making its way into her voice. ”And I bet there aren’t any taxis going through town. What am I supposed to do?”

Owen knew that this needed to stop. He needed to be the bigger man in this situation and just end things with Bee. It wasn't like they had anything to end in the first place, but being just friends with her was too hard. It was selfish he knew, but this wasn't fair. It wasn't fair to either of them and he needed to just walk away before it went any further than this. It was going to be easier to leave now before it got serious. Owen knew that it was going to be difficult but he needed to do it. He would be doing it for her. He wasn't going to be the one that ruined her relationship, her career, her life. If this got out she'd be over and that wasn't something that Owen could live with. He needed to keep her safe, to protect her from what this kind of scandal could do to her. Taking a deep breath, he was about to open his mouth to tell her that this wasn't going to work, but she cut him off. And with those simple words, that simple phrase that let him know she was going to be childish with him, she cut him off. His eyes filled with a happy sadness.
Taking another deep breath, he exhaled shortly and just smiled, forcing himself to laugh shortly at her words. "Well good. And here I was beginning to worry." He admitted cheekily and then looked down to the ground. His eyes wandered over to their connected arms and he wished that this could be real. He wished that he could hold her hand in public without having to look over his shoulder at every corner. He wished he could kiss her cheek, or kiss her lips, and not have to worry about her husband finding out. He didn't want to worry anymore. He just wanted to be with her. It wasn't a wanting what you couldn't have situation. It was wanting someone who he knew was perfect for him but yet she was just too far out of his reach. Sighing, he heard her next words and looked over in slight surprise. He wasn't expecting her to say that. "Yes, but in order to do that he robbed the rich." He said softly, feeling like he was in that exact situation. He felt like he was stealing her away from Sean. It was what Sean deserved for the way that he treated Bridget. Shaking his head, he just walked along with her until her next comment came. Smile. Was it that noticeable. Her simple command, her easy request made him do just that. He smiled now, and it was obvious that it was a genuine one.
Following after her into the pastry shop, he heard the door close behind them and when that happened, he instantly felt like he was warm. Smiling at the young woman behind the counter, he ordered after Bee, ignoring her words that she could pay. "Shush woman. He instructed teasingly and then ordered a hot chocolate and a vanilla cupcake. Paying for both of their treats, he tipped the woman as well. "We appreciate you being open." He said honestly and then turned away from the counter. Sitting down across from Bee, he watched as she bit into her cupcake and she decided that it was actually rather good. "Did you think that I would lie to you? How rude!" He teased her and then settled back into his chair, smiling across the table at her. However, his brow furrowed as her expression changed, her eyes widening in fear. Fearing the worse, Owen was ready to dive out of sight when he felt her poke and heard her words. Relief surrounded him instantly and he burst into laughter. Recovering himself, he spoke up. "You can spend the night at my place. I'll stay on the couch. It's not far from here, and then we can dig your car out when it's light out?"

RUMOR HAS IT, RUMOR HAS IT I'M THE ONE YOUR LEAVING HER FOR The park was prettier than she remembered. While the flowers weren’t in bloom right now and the normally green grass was covered with snow, the snow was beautiful. It added a certain shine to the ground and she liked that idea. California was imperfect, something she had never thought possible. Imperfection was something Bridget adored, and something that Sean did not possess. Her husband acted perfect and when she screwed something up, whether it be burning pancakes or pronouncing something wrong, he would shake his head in annoyance. Her relationship with Owen was completely different. He allowed her to act imperfect and allowed her flaws to be seen. That alone was something Bee had never done before. Her life the last couple years had been looked at from underneath a microscope and everything she did was judged. The way she dressed to the way she smiled was constantly judged, and the way she acted was something else. Bee could be a superstar one moment and then the worst actress in the world the next. She hated being judged to the extreme, and perhaps she needed to leave her job and become something else. Or someone else. But nothing mattered anymore; Bee had a way she was supposed to act and a way she wanted to act. Both were, of course, completely different.
The two made their way into the small shop and she smiled brightly and the older lady at the counter. It looked like she was in her sixties and still content with her life. Owen came up behind her and she could feel the heat radiating off his body. She wished he would hold her close, warm her up and everything. But she bit back her want and need and stood there, waiting for her treat. The hot chocolate came first and her chilled hands grabbed the cup before bringing the drink to her lips. The liquid burned her tongue for just a moment and she brought it back to the counter, a small smile teasing her lips. It warmed her up right away and she saw the cupcake follow seconds later. ”Thank you very much!” she said, agreeing with Owen before making her way to a table that overlooked the streets. The snow was coming back down harder than before and she could barely see through the constant downfall. ”I don’t think you would ever lie to me,” she teased ”But I needed to try it!” a small chuckle escaped her lips as her eyes glanced out the window once more.
Laughter escaped his lips and she furrowed her brows in confusion. What was funny about the situation? But suddenly, her stomach dropped and she felt herself flush. She could stay the night at his place. Well, this was bound to end horribly considering she didn’t know if she could stop herself from any urges that would come over her. Biting her bottom lip, she thought about it for a moment. ”Really? I don’t want to impose…” her voice trailed out for a moment before she smiled at him. ”Alright, yeah. That sounds like a good idea. I could make dinner if we stop at the local market on the way over.” she mentioned, dying to try out a new recipe she had learned a couple weeks ago. Bee had yet to try it out on someone other than herself and her mother. And considering her mother thought everything she did was amazing, she wanted someone who would be honest. ”It’s nothing too exciting, but hopefully good!” her mind couldn’t help but wonder what she would be wearing for bed and what he would be wearing…if he was wearing much at all.
